Lelaps’ fancy movement and quirky personality have made him a barn favorite all over the country – first while racing for Team Valor International in New York, Maryland, Kentucky, and Florida, then while rehabbing at Grattan Farm in Pennsylvania and Longview Farms in Alabama, and in retraining in Colorado.   He entered the Changing Leads program in April 2014, and after some significant down time, began dressage work with trainer Angelika Beutel in Firestone, CO.  In August 2015 he competed in and won at his first dressage schooling show.

Lelaps found his "person" in November of 2015 - Christina Petrandis of Denver, CO.   Christina says, "I am having a blast working with Lelaps!  He is sweet, quirky and has excellent gaits.  He is the first horse I have owned in over a decade and I am so excited. I am a veterinarian and have been involved in the equine industry since a young age. I grew up competing in three day events, played polo for Colorado State University and have enjoyed endurance and trail riding.   Currently, we are focusing on flat work.  He is doing very well! I am so grateful to Changing Leads for their dedication in caring for him and nursing his bowed tendon so that he could have a chance at a second career."
