Horses are creatures of great beauty, grace, and truth. They are large and powerful, yet exhibit a social nature. By working with horses participants are able to overcome fears, and build self confidence. In watching the dynamics of a herd, participants can gain powerful metaphors of leadership, team-building, learning group and family functions, and most of all non-verbal communication.
Horses also require the participant to stay both physically and mentally in touch with them during the activities. Horses have the ability to reflect our thought and feelings back to us through non verbal communication. Non-verbal communication is perhaps one of the most important keys to equine assisted growth and learning. This is what causes the “magic” of the participant to examine their self, the way they respond, and then begin to travel down the road to problem solving.
